About Our Services

Our team of experienced and compassionate professionals will provide your child and family with services designed to overcome a wide range of emotional, behavioral and relationship problems. Our staff is comprised of licensed clinicians with experience in various types of therapies. At the Family Counseling Center, we offer:

Intake session – This is the initial meeting between the therapist and client. It is during the Intake Session that the therapist gets to know the client and determines the client’s therapeutic goals. The therapist will also recommend the frequency and duration of therapy that would be most beneficial for the child/adolescent/adult or family in treatment.

Therapeutic techniques – At the Family Counseling Center, our therapeutic techniques incorporate a holistic and humanistic approach. Our clinicians tailor the treatment to each individual client’s needs to help the client to develop a stronger, healthier sense of self.

Our therapies include:

Cognitive Behavioral Therapy – This is generally a short-term treatment that focuses on the ways a person’s thoughts, emotions and behaviors are connected and how they affect one another.

Child Centered Therapy and Play Therapy – It is often beyond a child’s capabilities to fully discuss the challenges he or she is facing. Play therapy helps children to more easily express their experiences, feelings and perceptions. Through play therapy, children can learn to better communicate with others, express their feelings appropriately, and develop better problem-solving skills.

Family Therapy and Parent Support and Guidance – Family members are interconnected; the behavior and actions of each family member affects the health of each individual member as well as the family as a whole. Family therapists avoid blaming family members, and work with the family on different, healthier ways of interacting with each other.

Psychiatric Services – Referral to Psychiatric Services as needed
